The Witches by Roald Dahl

The Witches

rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is not one of Dahl’s books that I love. But, it’s ok. Maybe it’s because of the mice — I can’t stand one mouse, and in this book, I had to deal with lots of mice. However, I love the lovely bond between the main character and his Grandmamma. Reminds me of my GrandMa.

The King and I

You don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone. Know that lyric? I do and I think it’s absolutely right.

People take for granted everything they have but then when it’s gone, they start missing it.

I think, that’s what happened with me and the King. I mean, well, he was there in his Neverland, safe, alive, maybe he could make more musics and all. But then, I saw on TV, he passed away.

I was ok at first. So what if he’s gone?

Then, I heard his songs played again and again on the radio. Umm…is he really gone? I asked myself.

Oh no, the King of Pop is no longer with us. He can’t make more musics. Then, I realized that something was missing.

I visited his website. You can post your bestest memory about the king there.

I have quite a lot memory — not that I met him or what — about his songs. They have accompanied me during some moments of sorrow and joy, when I was sad and even when I fell in love.

Well, thanks, MJ. Your beautiful voice, your wonderful songs, will always be there for me though you can’t now. May you rest in peace, Sir.

Work oh Work

Just now, I met my Dad, a man of almost 63 years old with his past long experience as an employee.

home-officeWhile me, I’m a work at home mom. For the time being, I’m not planning to go back working at the office after being sent home last February because the company was in crisis.

And, you know what he asked me?

“Don’t you apply again?”

I was silent for a few seconds. Then, I answered, “No.”

“Why?”

“If I do apply and get hired again, I can’t take other jobs the way I do now.”

Currently I work for someone, building an online store. I only work from Monday to Wednesday, 9 to 5, from home. So, Thursday to Sunday, I can take other jobsmostly translating.

My Dad was speechless. He knows that when I made my decision, no one can change that but me.

So, hopefully, my plan works, so he doesn’t ask again. I know he was only being a caring Dad.

And, I went to an exhibition today. I learned that by being creative you can survive. You don’t have to work for other people. I love the idea.

Hope I can be THAT creative.

Rachel Ray’s Food Look Alike

My baby Hana is 5 years old today. A few weeks ago, she told people that she wanted to invite Rachel Ray (and Oprah) to her birthay party. FYI, sometimes she accompanies me watching Oprah and Rachel Ray’s cooking sessions.

Well, I can’t afford a birthday party with them as the invitees. So, I tried to be a ‘lil bit creative about that. I decided to cook. The way Rachel does. It’s gonna be Rachel Ray’s food look alike.

I gathered the ingredients which are somehow quite different than those Rachel normaly uses. I walked in to the kitchen at 6.30 am — which is RARELY done, almost never! I expected to complete the whole thing at 7.30 am. If Rachel needs 30 minutes. Well, this almost-never-cooking woman might need an hour.

At 8.30, my baby Hana was getting starved. She came in to the kitchen. Then, she smiled. No, she didn’t complain. She was being a sweet girl.

You know what, I finally came out of the kitchen at 9 am. It took me 2.5 hours to complete the cooking. 2.5 hours! Can you believe it?

How was it? Umm…it tastes ok for me — although Hana said it was YUMMY! Very very sweet.

Well, Happy Birthday, Dear! I’ve tried my best though! ;)

Blogger’s Block

Hm…I guess I’m at that stage now. I don’t blog as often as I used to. Almost blame it on microblogging, yet maybe it’s not the only reason. And, blaming something sounds childish, don’t you think?

Know what? This very moment, I don’t know what else to say here.

Let’s see…

Oh…it’s a bad bad bad blogger’s block.

I guess I’ll write again anytime soon.
